Subject: How are families planning on opening decisions notifications?
For acceptances, my child will call me very excitedly. For approximately 20 seconds as I'm only one of many on her list. I assume I will never hear about rejections.

My kid, class of 2025, forgot to check at the time the decision was released!
He knew he was going to get in somewhere, so there was no nervousness.
Most of my kids' peers are fortunate to be able to go to college with little or no debt.
That would be where the stress would lie for some families. Tons of loans!

This is real. So far he is in to a few places. The first he yelled down and said “Hey, I got into *college name*”. The second was weird and just showed up in his portal so he asked when I walked by. The third he forgot to tell me but had mentioned it to his dad.
He said- oh yah- I got in.

Ask your DC how they want to handle but for West Coast parents strongly advise your kids against opening at school/in presence of friends.

I let DC decide but did suggest not opening it at school/in public. I reminded him that he had seen a couple of kids burst into tears the previous year and that was unpleasant. As far as whether or not to have us in the room, that was his decision.
I did find out later that he had been sleeping with a logo shirt under his pillow "for manifesting" but I didn't know that at the time!

We will have a bottle of Bombay and some grapefruit juice, with some ice. If they get in we will all get hammered together. If they get rejected, we will still get hammered together.

There's only one school that matters (a T20--not ED) in this early wave, and for that school, our whole family will gather (four of us) and DD will open with us in the room. This is how we did it with our older kid (same school) and he got in. We will film it if she wants us to. The other schools she doesn't really care that much about and she will check portals as she gets emails.
