Yep.
He doesn't talk about how big the seats were then does he?
Seriously. If he wants passengers to go back to 1960s standards of dress, then he needs to talk to the airlines about going back to the 1960s standards for seat size/leg room and service. Pretty telling he's lecturing us while not saying a thing about the airlines.
You wouldn't fly then. 1960s prices were high. So high that normal people could not afford to fly.
Wrong:
"According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices for airline fares are 981.56% higher in 2025 versus 1963 (a $981.56 difference in value).
Between 1963 and 2025: Airfare experienced an average inflation rate of 3.91% per year. This rate of change indicates significant inflation. In other words, airfare costing $100 in the year 1963 would cost $1,081.56 in 2025 for an equivalent purchase. Compared to the overall inflation rate of 3.86% during this same period, inflation for airfare was higher."

When I went to college in 1990, my roundtrip flights from a small airport out west to a small airport in the East were almost $1,000. That would be $2,480 in today's dollars. I remember how much they were because I couldn't afford to come home for breaks, and I was scrounging for every discount with getting student credit cards and so forth. Now my kid is like "oh, I think I'll fly half way across the country to go to a concert with a friend" and it's not that big a deal. And she can change flights! If I had to change a flight in 1990, it was like you needed to sell a family heirloom to afford the change fees.

Unrelated to that, I think people should dress better for traveling and more importantly behave better while traveling. I personally think travel is too cheap and it draws out all sorts of trashy people.
Right. It needs to be more expensive so only highly refined people like you can partake.
God forbid a poor get to travel to visit family. Just stay home, poors!

Looking like a model is more important than legal talent (see Lindsay Halligan). Being overweight is a fatal sin if you’re a reporter. How you wear your medals is more important than why you received them (see Mark Kelly).

Heels on an inflatable slide also seems like a bad idea.
