I worked with a guy at a big consulting firm here in the DC area that literally had a degree in women’s studies. He participated in all the women-related D&I initiatives at the firm. It got him a promotion to Senior Associate.
One day, a female junior colleague came up to me very upset that she had asked him for a favor, something like “Hey can you pass that box of Kleenex to me?” And he responded by leaning in within two inches of her face “And if I do, what are you going to do for me?”
Morally if the story: Creeps happen and they masquerade as feminists all day long.

Your boyfriend, a man who has no respect for women and who seeks power over women, acted toward you, a woman, in a disrespectful and high handed way by seeking to deceive you about who he truly is. I'd say his actions are entirely consistent, wouldn't you?
Now, if you don't want a disrespectful, deceptive, power-hungry misogynist, then you're with the wrong person, aren't you? But his politics are the least of what should worry you here.

OP here. I wasn’t trying to turn this into a partisan fight. My ex is neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I was just pointing out that he apparently holds some abhorrent views that he hid.

If he’s listening to a lot of podcasts, he may not be spending much time on news, and what “news” he gets may be from unreliable sources. I don't think anyone could ever fake it in a way I would believe. It is in their actions and reactions, their opinons and viewpoints, their decision making, their life style, their response to world events, where they put their money and time.
I have lots of people in my life who have differing political views than I do and I know this without ever talking politics.

Depending on what he is saying and it what context. Your posts reads like you are progressive politically, does that mean you have to align with democrats no matter what or do you disagree with some of the platform? Can you support equal rights for women, while not advocating for the oppression of men?
