Agree. Our Pitt tour experience was great, but the $15k merit doesn’t make it more affordable than UVA in state.


from our HS Pitt is for those who do not get into UVA or WM in state: the small merit is the bragging right of the parent to cover the fact they did not get in elsewhere. Auburn offers a lot of merit to VA students too, no one goes unless they do not get in uva or VT


Yes, that is what we see as well. Its a backup option. A good backup option, but still.

DC heard about honors college tonight too! I do suspect that the merit is stat based. Maybe not just test scores because there are some TO posts on CC. 4.0uw, 1580 SAT and $15k for Dietrich

SAT 1450. wondering about Merit for sure. love school but without Merit...have to wait for other to come in

Daughter got her Honors acceptance tonight! Merit was last week. She applied test optional.

So Pitt's OOS tuition is $40K per year - the $15K brings it down to $25K per year - so that same level as UVA.

Yes, they do attend Pitt if they get into another school if that other school is too expensive.

My kid did not take the offer but others did.

For Pitt admits, do your kid have to apply to the Honors college after acceptance, or do they announce who is accepted in Honors college at the same time as the admit? Also, in terms of timing of acceptance, when do they announce the merit aid?
