Are there any downsides?
I guess you're fine with having widespread unemployment and an economic crisis as long as you can hire your day laborers for cheaper. Stay classy.
If Democrats had voted for the CR none of this would be happening.

If Democrats had voted for the CR none of this would be happening.
If Republicans had opted to continue health care subsidies that millions of Americans depend on to stay healthy and productive, rather than enacting tax cuts for billionaires and spending 40 billion dollars to bail out the hedge funders who bet on banana republic Argentina, none of this would be happening.
Covid subsidies can’t continue in perpetuity. The pandemic is over.
What the right level is should be a matter of conversation, but not as a hostage negotiation.
Schumer is in a trap rn with no way out. His main concern is fending off an AOC primary challenge.
Support for health insurance premiums, which improves the productivity of workers and decreases the cost of emergency care, can be continued if the priorities are to support American workers. But Trump would rather support his billionaire buddies who barely pay taxes, so here we are--government shut down, federal workforce cut only to be rehired at more expensive contractor rates and with a total loss of reputation to the world. Virginia is the epicenter of all of this, with its proximity to DC.

Exactly.
What is Youngkin doing? Nothing. Neither will Sears.
Youngkin has expressed public support for cuts to federal workers. Earle-Sears is on record that she doesn't see cuts to federal workers as a major issue for Virginia. Voters can make their choice soon, and there's a pretty big difference between the positions of Earle-Sears and Spanberger.

If that is your position then you voted for this.
