He has resigned his position, BTW.

He resigned because the school district gave him until yesterday to explain his immigration status. He did not respond and resigned. Likely makes sense given he is seeking a stay from the removal order issued under the Biden administration. He is also seeking to overturn the removal order itself - a long shot given he didn’t show up to the removal hearing. But he can’t give statements which could harm his legal defenses.

He also has a trust issue with the information he provided to obtain employment. Claimed a doctorate from Morgan State which was never granted. Likely made false statements on his I-9. Query whether the doctorate he was granted from Trinity International is legitimate. He provided it when the PA school district in 2021 was perplexed the Morgan State documents were not being processed. He needs money - 6 kids from 5 mothers - one born in Guyana - five in the US.

Those protesting don’t seem to realize that even if he is magically not deported he won’t be employed in education again. His record apart from immigration is that troubling.

His track career is legit. I know athletes who competed against him and he is one of the very few Coppin State track athletes to make All American. That is top 8 in the NCAA - D1. He ran 1:46 for the 800 - seriously good. The athletics were part of his cover story.

This is perplexing- I know quite a few foreign athletes who have spent the resources to gain work authorization and citizenship after college competition is over. They are generally high character people because it takes a lot to survive and succeed on your own here even with an athletic support system. This guy had ambition and the means to do things the right way.

He disclosed it in his interview for the superintendent position. He did not hide it. He even has a social media post about it.
Hes been hunting for 20 years.
DHS says he was born in Guyana but that hasnt been confirmed. He went to Coppin State. He had multiple jobs that require FBI BACKGROUND CHECKS and fingerprinting.
Hes not saying anything and he has lawyered up. His staff have nothing but good thing to say about him.
This could be interesting.

DHS has also put out information about him that is clearly wrong. They said he fist entered the US on a student visa in 1999, but there are videos of him competing for his college track team at the NCAA championships in years before that. I don’t know the whole story, but definitely would not rule out a huge DHS f$ck-up.

I think it’s like this everyone. You just have to “swear” you are a citizen and check a box. It is not verified.

Federal, state, or local elections. Resident aliens can vote in some local Maryland elections.

Certain Maryland localities allow non-citizens to vote in local (not state or federal) elections.

ICE recently arrested Ian Roberts. Reports say he had prior gun charges and deportation orders, yet he still managed to build a career in education here. He worked for DC Public Schools, Baltimore City Public Schools, and spent nearly eight years in the Maryland public school system before later becoming superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools in Iowa.

According to Maryland state records, he may have also been registered to vote in Maryland. That adds another layer of concern right here at home, since Roberts was employed across both DC and Maryland schools.

This is not just a headline from Iowa. It directly touches the DC metro region, where Roberts worked in our public schools and was part of our community.
