Right. Actually it is a big job, and the new guy we will be hiring expects it take 3 weeks total (including ripping out most of what the other guy did.)
But yeah, one of our issues with this guy was how it took him much longer than he contracted (and in the end, we found out he didn't even do it correctly.) We wondered if he worked more than 5 hours a day if he would have finished faster?

Many years ago I worked for a construction company (secretary type work) and I know our crews would generally work 7 am-4 pm. It really surprised me that this guy was rolling in close to 9 am and then leaving in the early afternoon.

Well then stop being a cheapo and hire a better contractor. And as others have noted, if you've got mental anxiety from the thought of another person using their toilet while working in your home, get a portapotty.
