It doesnt matter what religious holidays - they aren't religious.

It's because there are a lot of big Jewish holidays early in the school year and all on weekdays this year and not weekends. It just all piled close and is always stressful to hit them all. More so at this stage of life for this family.
We try to do all of them but I also run out of steam.

We have similar holiday issues and my kids are young so it's scheduling and bedtimes and not the studying that's the issue right now. We have compromised and my mom finally got that happy kids want to see her more than stressed and underslept kids who are made to do things. She now cooks full or nearly full meals and brings them over and we celebrate and wash dishes after. She wants to cook and host and be the magnanimous host. Great. She now does it at my house so we don't have to rush home to put kids to bed and it works out. More cleaning on my end but less driving. The grandparents are retired and have more time than us at this stage.
