When I was younger and had a very limited clothing budget, I was happy to share discount shopping tips. Now my clothes are expensive, but from very small, niche designers. Constantly people ask and I just say from an online boutique... because you don't need to know I'm wearing a two thousand dollar dress.
Exception: when someone approaches me privately and asks if I could please share designer name.

Especially if the person isn’t into fashion. Example, a normie friend complimented my bag and asked where I got it. I said “online” and then sent her links to dupes. If she asked me specifically who made it, I’d tell her, but no need to volunteer info where you’ll get judged.
But in OP’s case, yeah, it’s prob because Anthropologie is basic, and the person was embarrassed to shop there.

Please don’t do this. Someone did this to my friend, and she bought the dupe. She could afford the original, but she is not into fashion at all and didn’t realize what she was buying. I had to tell her, she was really upset and never wore the fake again.
I'm PP. Not an actual replica. Just a watered-down affordable version clearly inspired by the designer one.

I have friends that Google my stuff, not to copy but to find out the price. They aren’t trying to copy me, they are trying to sleuth my finances. Yes, it’s odd behavior and not how I think re: others, but it’s important enough for them to go home and research for some reason. I know this because they pretty much told me. They are my friends. We all have our own quirks. No biggie.
