Parents of the the girl with long dark hair, the cop and his wife, said explicitly that they thought that the husband and the daughter were in on it.

That's a mean and unnecessary statement. She was 13 when this particular incident started, and she has probably been manipulated her entire life. You sound like a bully.

There was a body camera video from during the investigation. I guess you never know how you would react in those situations, but nobody's reaction on that bodycam video was what I would expect. Well the police officer was being very indirect. He was talking like he was sympathetic to Kendra and so Lauren just sat in a stupor unsure of what was even going on. It is a hard pill to swallow that those sexual and demeaning messages were coming from inside her own home, and the fact that the policeman never even came out and said it directly didn't help her processing.

Heck, I was confused as hell during that whole conversation, and I am an adult who already knew what was going on. I don't understand what exactly that whole word salad was even supposed to be about. And then he just leaves all these upset people sitting there, like "Well I hope you guys can work all this out! See ya." Like ??? what?

I am also very baffled as to why they were even discussing anything with Lauryn with her abuser in the same room at that point. Like why didn't they talk to Lauryn and her father alone and clearly explain what had been going on and how they knew for a fact it was her mom? And why wasn't there a counselor or therapist present? It's not like this insane woman went from having a perfectly healthy relationship with her daughter to launching this abuse campaign and there's just nothing else to start unpacking there. Lauryn seemed like, at least at the time of filming, that she's still very much wrapped up in a toxic relationship with her mom. I hope she has a REALLY good therapist who can help her see that (if she hasn't already) and to help her process/heal from the betrayal and abuse. (I bet there have been a lot of other things throughout Lauryn's childhood too; a mother who is so heinous as to do what she did to her child doesn't just start out of no where).

I don't think Lauryn knew. I think she is sheltered, lives in a small town, and is young. I think she didn't understand everything that happened. It's a hard thing to make sense of - that someone who loves you would do this. It disrupts your sense of self.

Lauryn's voice reminded me so much of one of my niece's. That niece is one of the sweetest people alive but clearly suffers from a learning disability of some sort (I've never felt like it was my business to ask my sister directly).

Anyway, because of the similar voices, I projected those characteristics onto Lauryn.

Whatever she is guilty of, and I suspect plenty more than this, she is clearly someone who is deeply mentally ill. I think she needs some serious psychiatric care, like in-patient.

I rewatched the interview with Dad and Lauryn and her Dad are very similar. Dad is also very similar / trusting / whatever you want to call it.

I think she literally wanted Lauryn to commit suicide, that would have been the ultimate attention seeking situation. It would have gotten her out of the way with Owen and all eyes would be on her at the funeral and afterwards. She wasn't going to ever stop until she got caught or Lauryn died. This woman is beyond sick and IMO is a real danger to society.

Lauryn seemed to be disassociating, and at the end starts crying. Lauryn endured years of abuse (emotional, psychological and IMO sexual via those explicit texts). Relentless abuse from the ages of 13-15. And these are just the years we know about. She had no autonomy, she was a literal child with no say in where, how or with whom she lived. I don't think any kind of reaction, under these circumstances, is weird.

The falsely accused were kids! One of them was shy and didn't have a large support group. The lying nut job didn't care one bit about hurting innocent children.

I hope people who have to work with her know who she is. People like her get innocent people hurt/fired/killed. She's more dangerous than people realize.

I think they don't actually know for sure about the very first texts. The article suggests she might not be lying and it's plausible those texts gave her the idea. The first texts were very limited in number (like 3-4) and a YEAR before the others started, so if they were from spoiler, she then showed self-control for a long time in between. All of which is to say that my impression is that the question is unsettled.
