It’s always been the case. RedBulls moved to a more northern division. New this year is starting this season, U15 and up MLS academy teams play up an age group.

Looking at the schedule, taking Bethesda U16 as an example, they only play DCU once. They are not even playing Philly Union or Red Bulls. Not even once.

All the MLSN vs ECNL crap on this board and there really isn't any difference between the two. Most ECNL teams have been playing friendlies against academy teams the past couple weeks. It all comes down the quality of the club not the badge.

Tell that to the college recruiters and coaches
They prioritize MLS Next players for a reason

If you actually knew, you would know this is false.

Look at the NCAA top 25 men's soccer teams rankings
Go through the rosters and list mls next vs ecnl players

I believe that is answer

MLS academy players not P2P.

That's an F for the assignment

Minus the rhetoric, is there a combined data source that can answer the question? Or is it a matter of scraping rosters and tracing origins.

Every players bio tells you where he played before college

Happy hunting and gathering

On the top NCAA mens teams, it looks like 85-90% of the players come from European academies or from another university first.

In all honesty, I'm sure in other true soccer countries, local teams don't play against professional club academies regularly

Additional to your observations, the Bethesda U16's will be playing against the DCU U15's
Red Bulls changed divisions btw

You really liked saying your son played against an academy team that much?
