Meh, ECNL is going to get another team in the area then. All the leagues are expanding anyway. And besides, the Arlington going GA trolling is a sad jealousy fueled rage. Arl would lose girls and not gain boys if they leave ECNL so for yet another year, they stay. Try to for Maryland United maybe? Or maybe get another EDP team to go GA?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Well, if true the top girls team players will just leave and push weak girls off other ECNL clubs and then make a lateral move with their ECRL club to GA. Seems pretty stupid for Arlington to pick the lesser GA but whatever, it isn't like it would make GA stronger as the best kids would just still pick the best league. GA might as well just pluck one of the random ECRL programs insteadAnonymous wrote:Confirmed Arlington going to GA.
Leave and go where? FVU? [Insert maniacal laughter]. Some may be able to make VDA or Bethesda AND make the logistics of those clubs work, but not many.
Anonymous wrote:About the same number of girls from the DMV will commit D1 every year. It's because they are good at soccer, contacted coaches with film ahead of showcases, followed up. It's not because of the club uniform they wear. The number of DMV commits doesn't fluctuate because players change teams. It's the same players on different teams. Y'all are so focused on the wrong things.

I really doubt this. It would change the mix of girls and the college commits to such an extent that it would undue everything the club has done to date. Arlington had several girls that are freshman in D1 now who have played significant time and scored already this season. No way they would have been at a GA club.

this is really the reality. It would just shore up the teams w better players.Anonymous wrote:Well, if true the top girls team players will just leave and push weak girls off other ECNL clubs and then make a lateral move with their ECRL club to GA. Does it mean my DD will become a better soccer player if she joins these clubs? She'll get a college scholarship? Some people are just so desperate/gullible. I guess that's why all these top lists exist.
Seriously. Not to mention, what kind of dumb people run a league where they want to publish a list to highlight a small number of their members as being superior to the rest of their members?
Ahh...really any sort of competitive league? Geez. What do you want, everyone to get a medal or an award? Why have playoffs? Heck, why even keep score if no one should be superior to the rest? Come on...
Facepalm/eyeroll not enough for that previous dumb comment. Agree completely.
What do get out of having a youth team “superior to the rest “?? A professional contract with a top European team ? Prize money when you win? Media coverage and fame ? Big fat salary transfer to your DDs account every week ? Until then keep getting busy with nonsense.
If these are the reasons you have your daughter or son in youth sports, you are the problem.
No, they are absolutely right - It is ‘nonsense’. It’s just dumb content for social media, marketing, etc. Like everything these clubs post on social media, dumb content - hype videos, media day pics, uniform reveals, public “thank yous” to colleges, hype, hype, hype…and no beef. No highlighting of the training and techniques that actually is their product. Probably because they all claim to be serving Wagyu Filets and are handing out Salisbury Steak.
You have an interesting take on US youth soccer. Did you know that through u14 US players are fairly even with European players? What changes at u14 and above we maintain the status quo while European acadamies weed out players. What ends up happening is fewer and few players get more and more resources put into their development. Out here its the same amount of players as u14 and the same amount of resources.
US club development isnt worse or bad its just less focused.
This is sort of right.
European clubs do a lot of the same things as US clubs through u17 actually
The big difference is US parents and kids are striving for college, European parents and kids are striving for professional soccer. Those two tiers are vastly different. It’s like if one groups of kids is trying to dunk on an elementary school height basketball hoop, and another is trying to dunk on a 10’ hoop. The later group will, on average, outperform the former.

DD has been out of youth soccer for several years but during her time in ECNL, PDA, Slammers HC Koge. San Diego Surf, etc., were elite teams that sent most of players, including reserves to top programs. PDA sent players to UNC, Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Princeton and Rutgers. College coaches have confidence in these winning clubs. I know that most of the players from that PDA team are starting for their respective schools.
VDA seems to be producing quality teams at one or two age groups. McLean was strong. Few years back. I believe DC’s issue is that there are too many ECNL/GA clubs. If you could consolidate that talent across four or five teams as opposed to a dozen teams, you would see the DMV produce one or two elite teams every year.
Nobody cares.
I think people do. There’s a thread about it.
