Just recently was at a Mystics game. It was nice.

Friends of mine live there. Cheap real estate, no problems.

This summer, I started dropping my spouse at Gate 1 DHS every work day and head to Suitland - pick spouse up and return home to NOVA. Not sure if we will continue this once it is dark at the end of the day. Otherwise, spouse enters DHS off 295 and parks. I get to Suitland via 495.

I see that you’re trying to make yourself feel better, but honestly, normal people in normal areas really don’t do this. Honestly. We can walk around and get our work done and take our kids places and not worry at all about crime.

You must be a man. Women constantly practice situational awareness.

PP is right that you should practice situational awareness wherever you are. Your lily pad isn’t as safe as you think.

What an exaggerated take. It is offensive. Are your initials DJT?

I don’t consider navy yard to be that safe.

The enjoy your time in some vanilla exurb.

You obviously don’t get out much. I have several URM neighbors who left DC and settled in NOVA. I swear some of you are stuck somewhere between the 1950s and 1980s where people live in black or white neighborhoods. I’m in my 50s and never lived in a one color neighborhood in the big urban city hometown or here in the burbs (DCUM regularly trashes our area — too many brown people for blue NOVA).

Having been around the DC area, I’d like to know what areas you *think* are vanilla in the burbs or exurbs. If by vanilla you mean UMC (not racial make-up) with few to no so-called poors as DCUM likes to call them, I’d agree with you. Same could be seen in some DC proper areas.

Basketball mom here. For past few years, I’ve been to Ward 8 and most other wards/ neighborhoods in DC several times a week, for practices and games, days and nights.

I’ve changed my routes to/from several times if I know of recent drive by shootings and to avoid certain parking lots with drug deals (hint, Auto Zone).

You don't practice situational awareness? That's odd. Every place is different but every place has situational rules. Even Tiffany's.

THE ARC is in Ward 8 more Congress Heights or Shipley Terrace, but not in Anacostia. That is like saying Levine is in Friendship Heights.

PP you replied to. It's in ward 8, which was OP's question. But you are correct: it's not in Anacostia. I had to do a little research on the internet. People vaguely think that whole area is Anacostia.
