My husband is slightly above average height (5’11”) but I’m very, very tall - 5’10” - and so is my mother. There are several men in my family over 6’3”.
I would guess he’s going to be very, very tall.
This was my baby. His dad is 6’4. Baby is now five years old and solidly 50th percentile for height. Remains to be seen if he will shoot back up again.

boys often grow a ton during the preteen and teen years. shorter classmates sometimes leapfrog taller ones. you might not really know until then.

We obviously have no idea yet but we have a 5 year old who is head and shoulders taller than his peers. He is currently 55 pounds and 50” tall.
Genetically - mom is in the 90th percentile for women (5’8”) but dad is probably average height (5’10”).
When did you know your son was going to be super tall or were you just surprised at the end?
Same parental stats here (5'10M, 5'8.5"F). DS was tall all through elementary school (not freakishly so, but he was one of the youngest in the class and consistently one of the tallest). By 6th/7th grade he was 99th percentile and convinced he would be at least 6'3"... and then he stopped growing in 8th grade. He's currently 16 and not quite 6 feet.
I remember in 5th grade my 2 two best friends and I (girls) were all the same height and considered tall. One is now 5'2" and one is 5'11. I don't think you can know for sure until you get through puberty.

When I found out I was having a boy because my FIL and DH are 6'7" and I'm 5'10". I guess he could suprrise us but he's been 99th percentile his whole life.

Just take your kids to their annual check-ups for monitoring. My son was 90% for height for most of childhood. Then he suddenly fell off the charts and was referred to an endo for delayed puberty. Testing revealed growth hormone deficiency. My point here OP is that his size at age 5 did not signal what we'd be dealing with 9-10 years later.
