The women can. But most of the men can’t, unless they are taking the pill. And even with a pill, it can still be difficult for some of them. That is the fax, so acknowledge it.

Not OP, but that is concerning. People experience cognitive decline in their old age and exercise very poor judgment. The stepmom likely won't advocate for her step kids. It really isn't fair that she should get what OP's mom and dad worked towards jointly just bc she is there.

In my life, this is so true. My parents had a very traditional marriage and the way my dad treats my mom couldn’t be more opposite how he raised me and my sister.

You dad is 70. He’s not interested in a career woman at his age. He wants someone who is easy to get along with and will take care of him as he continues to age. If she leaves him because he gets too demanding about doing more around the house, what’s his option? Go on dating apps to find someone else? I know someone whose father was in a similar situation after her mother died and she recognized that the stepmother took a load off of some of the caregiving she and her sister would have had to provide if Stepmother wasn’t there. Be grateful your father is happy.
