That's because your woods are not *that* tick-infested. There's tick-infected and tick-infested. Don't minimize the lived experience of others, please. I can assume that the hosts believe their woods are like the ones you describe, otherwise they wouldn't organize a wedding there... but you never know. If I were OP, I'd check with the hosts.

OP, if you're worried about mosquitos, ticks, etc., you can treat your clothes (or just your shoes and socks) with permethrin: https://www.cdc.gov/mosquitoes/prevention/about-permethrin-treated-clothing-and-gear.html. Deep Woods OFF works on skin, but I hate the smell and feel of it. Easier to just treat the clothes you'll be wearing (spot test delicate fabrics; denim should hold up just fine). Use permethrin products outside, and don't let your cats get near them (dogs are fine).
