Seems to me that this should have been turned over to CPS. School should have no further involvement.

When I taught school--in two different systems--teachers were kept out of it. Of course, we were expected to report suspicions.

If I suspected abuse, I reported it to the counselor, principal, or school nurse. In turn, they contacted authorities after initial steps. Granted, this was elementary school, but I am sure it worked the same way in the high schools.

No one on school staff should be taking a girl to the abortion clinic.

Actually strike that, I missed the later paragraph excluding abortion.

That said, the judicial waiver isn’t needed if the minor says they are abused or neglected. Seems like a pretty big hole.

I’m very curious about the staff member that came forward (why 4 years later?) and her employment history.

She was named in the account posted on x. I'm not going to post it here, but you can find it. An ESOL teacher.
According to the account it was a Social Worker who took the girls to the clinic. She is listed as school staff. I assume she is a school social worker.

The laws around healthcare consent for minors have conditions for pregnancy, STDs, and mental health. A minor can consent to an abortion without parental involvement, they can’t consent to knee surgery. You may disagree with that, but it is how the law stands.

Exactly. Look at all of the admin put on leave and re assigned because they didn’t follow proper CPS protocols. Not saying this happened but not calling CPS and stealing are the top two reasons a principal loses their job.
