+1. Sweet deal for Fairfax County scouts. We've always had to pay in MCPS to use space.

Clarification to post above. After school clubs have to pay, but only for weekend events this would apply to such clubs as debate forensics and model United Nations.

I hear that after-school student clubs must now pay. In the past a club could meet as long as the custodians were on duty.

Who hire community use groups who run after school programs. I dont see the difference except they are for profit and the scouts is not.

Girl Scouts doesn't. There is zero requirement to attest to a monotheistic creator god. The only requirement is to believe in something bigger than yourself-- but that can be humanity, Gaia, civilization, whatever. The word 'god' in the pledge can be swapped out with any word of the girl's choosing.

Good. Everyone should pay or no one should pay. It's not fair to give scouts a break but no one else.

I don't see why the after-school activities run by outside vendors through the PTA then shouldn't have to pay.

Girl scouts is usually just small groups meeting up with a couple of larger meet ups for the entire troop and most of these do meet at the school or churches and dont pay for space or the cost is minimal.

Boy scouts is usually a larger meeting for the entire troop which is hard to host anywhere other than an area with a lot of space. Luckily most churches will sponsor boy scouts as well as girl scouts.

What’s next paid parking for school plays, sporting events and other after school activities. Need to bring in more money for body guards.

Most Boy Scout troops meet at local churches and they pay to have their meetings there. Why shouldn't FCPS go back to charging for space? Other orgs do it. Pay or just host it at a home.

They can cleanup after themselves. Our non profit does. No need for additional person.
