Feels like there is a bigger story/context here. Anyone know it, or have a better sense of who is in the right here?
It sounds like Taylor finally met a woman in Montgomery County who was not bowled over and fawning over him like all of his darling BOE ladies.

Megan is a professional and she called it as she saw it and she didn't allow Taylor to get away with his snaky lies like he always does.
The BOE is equally to blame. This has been a well known issue for years.
BOE under Weast? Starr? Smith? McKnight? Or all of them?
The present BOE is supposed to be supervising and evaluating Taylor's performance as superintendent. You know, the guy who notified by the OIG in December 2024 that he needed to get background check compliance in order and waited until three weeks before the report was released to try and clean up his act?
Why are Supers' contracts multi year? Max six months at a time. They need to prove they can handle it, baby steps. 6month contract extended based on performance.
Well, Taylor and the BOE said he needed a year just to get acquainted with the school system, so I don't think 6-month contracts would fly.

Did they hire Jones to do so?
The background screening office is under HR, which has had a series of ineffective leaders.

But wouldn't reporting of crimes and interacting with the FBI and police fall under Marcus's jurisdiction? There's no way his office isn't involved in SOME way. And honestly, no way that his office shouldn't have flagged that this was an issue, if he wasn't responsible for maintaining the records.
