Procrastinators should be doing something. People that work best under pressure may be fine. It all depends on the kid. It gets crazy busy applying, maintaining grades, and extracurriculars, and social though so anything now is a win. It’s also an emotional rollercoaster so build in time to feel defeated.

Mine is the same, and as a super planner with mild anxiety, it’s stressing me the F out.

Mine wrote their essays over the summer (feel like almost everyone does). Did not show to me and that was AOK. IMO as much as we respect teachers, my kids did not feel they would be the best judge of what makes a college admission essay. They wrote from their heart and felt good about them. They researched typical supplemental prompts from the schools that required them and got some thoughts together in the summer too. Really helped to have them done.

That would still fit into PP's "light essay drafting but nothing crazy" definition. Definitely agree it can help Fall feel less hectic if common essay or something else is drafted.

But I'm more concerned about those teens working a million hours at a job or taking a bunch of courses. The brain and body needs to relax for a month or two.
