There is an NVSL mid-division coach making WAY more than that, and he doesn’t coach winter swim! I’m surprised the pool hasn’t let him go considering their current division and where they used to be.

He asked me my name and who my children are at our banquet last night. We've met a bunch and my kids go to practice 4 days a week. I never saw him give a bit of instruction to any kids. Feels like the jr coaches did it all. I assume this job pays terribly and that's why we have this dud? Just curious.

What a disappointment. I would absolutely give this feedback to the reps.
How do you build a team for the long term if the summer coach stinks?

You end up relying very heavily on your club swimmers to win meets. There will be a huge gap between the few club swimmers on your mid-to-low division team and the rest of the team (and relays will be tough to win). If one of those club swimmers leaves the team, you could find yourself slipping down divisions until you can develop your younger swimmers.
