MY OOS kid loves UNCW. Had thought he wanted to go to Charleston. I added UNCW as a second stop after Charleston and his mind was instantly switched.
He liked the more defined campus and felt access to the beach was easier.

Also he didnt realize until touring but didnt love all the charleston tourists blending in with the campus

It’s hyperbole but not far from the truth.

The water is freezing near SV, so it’s mostly surfers or people in wet suits.

Heck, I lived along the coast near LA for 4 years and it was hard to stay in the water for long for most of the year without a wet suit.

People are constantly in the water. Maybe you're really sensitive, but I've never heard this description of the Pacific. Is it cold? yeah, it's an ocean.


In San Diego in August, sure. But not in the Bay Area without a wet suit at any point in the year.

Yes because the bay is the only place with access to the pacific

These schools are nothing like Charleston.


Having visited both schools, I see similarities between CoC and Tulane in that they are both pretty campuses in charming cities that a lot of young people are drawn too. Tulane is obviously a lot more difficult to get into. I bet Miami is similar.

That being said, I agree with the person who said CoC could also be a great school to go to. Some of these schools mentioned above are highly rejective schools no matter how good your stats.
