I’ve been to Alabama many times and I’m from up north. I’ve rarely seen this behavior. It’s a stereotype just like the deranged hippy lefty. Very few people are openly like this. It’s what people think if they’ve never been.
No you are wrong
Alabama is racist, stupid and down right Christian nationalist shit. The idiots vote red all day everyday and what has that gotten them??? There is nothing good about Alabama because Republicans have run it to the ground for years and years and the sheep there are hateful shits bless your heart

They live in a 5000 sq ft home and drive a Lexus and an Audi. They had a live in nanny. The kicker is that their house is only worth $450k and he is a solo attorney in a suburb. Would you consider these people rich or just middle class in the right area to live a nice lifestyle? Yes I’m being materialistic and terrible thinking these things.

You’ve been? I LIVED there for 11 years. “Openly” is doing the work there. They ARE like that underneath the most beautiful manners and sunny attitudes.
Maybe your social circles didn’t overlap with the powerful white Protestants. Mine did and while they were delightful on the surface, they were racist, classist, obsessed with status, and still mad about the civil rights movement. And yes, they were Trumpers. They made excuses for his behavior as “God sometimes works though bad people”. They believe god blessed them with wealth because they’re such good Christians. Is everyone like this? Of course not. But yes, this was my experience.

They probably make good money, but it stretches really far in Alabama. White people there know how good they have it….not much competition given the systemic issues there.
