Yes in the middle of nowhere but that is more feature than bug. Access to anything you need within 10 mins in Mt Vernon and Columbus is less than an hour a way. One of the prettiest campuses in the U.S. Not for everyone but a gem of a college. Almost magical college experience.

+1 Completely agree on all of it.

Bryn Mawr was the top-ranked women’s college throughout the 20th century. It is the only Seven Sister that had a full academic curriculum since its inception.

Its ranking has fallen somewhat since the 2000s onward because they were unable to replace the professors who retired, many of whom were the at the top of their fields, with equivalently stellar academics.

Bryn Mawr still offers great single sex education for women. It is a decidedly left of center institution so if you’re conservative probably not the best fit.

As for the quiet on a Friday night, it’s quiet because the students prefer it that way. The culture valorizes intellectualism, and there’s no shame in spending Friday night researching or studying. In my day, it was common to study until 10 or 11 on Friday night, then head to a party. It you want more serious partying, it’s easy enough to head to Haverford or Penn, but Bryn Mawr is not a party school.
