I have also applied to several part- time ‘lower’ level jobs - think shelving books, library tech, receptionist. I have not received any calls and I am wondering how much age discrimination is at play here.

I retired at 63.

A woman I used to work with retired and works at wine shop. It's not as busy as the average retail story, but the social interactions are still there and she gets to talk about something she likes.

My MIL got a job at an event florist, so there's no retail component. She makes boutonnieres, bouquets, and table arrangements for weddings. She can sit or stand at the workstation and they don't expect her to go on site to install anything.

Some places like quasi govt jobs like FINRA, CSS, Fannie, Freddie folks in the cubes below a certain salary sit there for years before anyone notices.

I worked with a 70 year old women once at Fannie who was sometype of admin or proof reader for internal communications and retired English teacher who took job at 65 after hsuband died as bored. She did these super easy job for full time pay right up to she was like 72 then got let go with 7 months pay then unemployment. Lady made like 120K a year with bonus so walked away with over one million pay over that time.

Agree. Can make 250k at Navy working 1-3 hours a day.

3 hours a day might be showing off. I had a job like that and 3 hours a week more like it.

Examples?

Fed, State, Non Profit, small bank any sleepy 9-5 plane. My friend works Maryland and on side does mortgage broker work and a CPA doing tax returns as he has so much free time. I dont know why he would ever retire unless fully in pension. And Maryland has 10 year vesting to get the pension. Could easily do that job 60-70

What?! Do explain. Do you mean you are on call for long hours but not actually working?

I doubt I’ll totally retire until my health makes work impossible.

What do you mean by a line lawyer?

It usually means a non-supervisory lawyer.

This plus zero administrative responsibilities, client development responsibilities or anything else that goes beyond preparing and trying the cases assigned to me. It is so liberating.

You should help people maximize taxpayers' credits and deductions. I'm in control of my income somewhat and file as head of household.
Tell me how much earned income I need and how much I'm allowed to take out from investments to get the most.
I have earned $7k this year to put into Roth IRA to get saver's credit and EIC. I cannot withdraw over $11-$12k from investment or one of those credits goes away. Just ordered a tax book to figure this all out for 2026.
I wish someone had explained it all to me when I did may taxes very first time in 1998.
