Just say you are done. It’s not comfortable and you have enough money to have a comfortable trip to the beach.

We do an annual beach trip. A grandparent pays and there are many kids who have a blast. But we all have our own beds and bathrooms and the house is BIG and everyone can get away from each other as needed. I do not want to sleep on an air mattress or a bunk bed as an adult.

Look OP, it’s OK to let go of the past. It appears that all families including cousins are miserable with the dynamics now. Only your mother loves it. Rather than tarnish a fond memory, move on and make new memories. I guarantee you that your all cousins will not be giving into this once they have kids. It will end as all things in life do.

Stop forcing your spouse, kids and yourself to endure a horrible vacation. Be the family hero and end the insanity!

This is a fascinating thread. Keep us posted on what you decide to do, OP. And I hope you do something. Don’t do nothing. You need to do something, and you know you do. Be bold.

I’ve PP about this before in related threads but my ILs bought a 2 BR, 2 BA 750 sq ft condo - 20 minutes from the shore - as a family vacation spot
where our family of 3DC had an open invitation to join them. I went exactly once under this arrangement and it was a claustrophobic nightmare - 2DC beside us on the floor & oldest

worse than sleeping on a bunk bed in a separated room from DH? I don’t think so. OP says there’s no hotels and limited options for rentals, doesn’t like sleeping arrangements, but doesn’t want to necessarily stop going. What’s left?

I just won’t spend my vacation time at beach places. Sitting and burning in sand is hell to me. I have so little vacation leave so I use it on fun trips to new cities with museums/ castles/ attractions.

Yours isn’t working for you, so no need to keep going.
