For people trying to come here legally, yes.
Those that enter illegally - or did during Joe Biden's term - were not required to offer this proof. In fact, not much was required of them at all.

Yes, of course we need to enforce current immigration laws in a humanely compassionate way but most importantly we need immigration law reform measures that make it easier for citizens of other countries to come here to work LEGALLY! Clinton, Obama, and Bush all called on Congress to produce legislation for this very purpose but of course Congress failed to act and then Trump and Biden came along and made the issue much worse than it ever had to be.

This is the part that so many don't understand. So many people think that if you marry a US citizen, you automatically get a green card. That's not true and not how it works. That process can still take years. And becoming a naturalized citizen can take even longer. I know someone who has been working toward that for 7 years now.

Isn’t 7 years normal for the first step? You shouldn’t be able to walk up to a window and just get citizenship. My cousin went through this several years ago. The problem I see is more tracking the status of folks and lack of vetting and follow through on check ins.

Because the new immigrants are brown.

Pressure his members of Congress to speak out and make a scene. Tell the story to everyone you know. We change this when hearts and minds are on our side. We need to humanize immigrants because that’s really all MAGA has for boogie men. Trans people are too few and sadly Dems are willing to throw them under the bus.
