I "hooked up" a bunch in college, but did not have sex, including oral sex until I was 20/21 in a serious relationship. I was the last of my college friends to have sex, most had by the time they started Freshman year or else shortly thereafter. This was 25 years ago.

Regular meals?! That’s not a chaperone, that’s hired help. And the parents send alcohol? In my day, we had to beg someone’s older sibling to hook us up. These kids are so freaking spoiled, I can’t imagine having to be in college with these kids who don’t know how to anything by themselves.

Yes, things have dramatically changed. Gen Z'ers don't have as much sex as the older generations since dating in general has declined. There are studies about this.

Almost all kids have sex in high school unless things have changed dramatically in the past few decades. I went to college a virgin and was seriously the only one of all of my female friends. I doubt it has changed. Parents just don't typically know.

I think the best thing to do is to be sure there is birth control and condoms available and lots of education about consent and saying no. The sex will happen regardless of if its casual or with a boyfriend/girlfriend.

I guess I am naive (my oldest is a little younger), but is this real, the part about parents sending their kids to a beach house with a case of alcohol? And a chaperone who allows underage drinking? And turns a blind eye to kids having sex presumably under her roof?

I was a teenager once and know drinking/sex happens, but not in this facilitated way. Are other parents really okay with this while their kids are still living at home?

I would be fine with my kid going away for a weekend with friends at that age - this just seems nuts to me.

Can any of the “supply case of alcohol parents” speak up?

I don't think anyone is pearl clutching. I think it's interesting to consider whether this is degrading or empowering or what society/group think is in 2025.

And whether or not it's less common than 30 years ago doesn't mean it's not going on.

Because it usually goes like this- the boys who engage in this stuff will gab about it to their friends and half of the friends will find it cringey and secretly talk crap about them. Boys can have bad reputations too but most won't even realize it.
