I just had an episode this weekend and thought of this thread.

My 19YO son is home from college and his schedule has been so erratic that we can’t even plan “us time”. He was supposed to be at work on Friday and we were just starting to get into it when we heard the front door slam and him yelling hello. He had to have heard us scrambling to put on clothes, etc. Really close call.

We had a much worse one when he was a kid. We were having coffee in bed while he was watching cartoons. She has a morning routine of straddling me and stretching while we talk about what we have to get done that day. Anyway, it turned into flirting and then her riding me. I don’t know how long we were into it but the bed had a steady creak going and I was pretty much crosseyed. All of a sudden, the door busts open and he runs in and jumps on the bed with us. We scrambled covering up and her trying to lay down. Super awkward.

If this is her attitude about sex, it's probably because of how she was raised. Great that you're exploring your sexuality and all. Maybe encourage your college-age kid to get some remedial sex-positive education, since you failed to provide it?

And stop referring to your college-age, adult child as a "kid". She's not. She's a whole adult now, and should act and be treated accordingly.

During most of my teenage and adult years, my parents slept in separate beds, then separate bedrooms, and then separate homes. I remember walking in on them having sex when I was very young. At the time I didn't understand what was happening at all. Later it grossed me out. Now I am happy that they had a sex life together at one point.

I have had multiple conversations with my DD since then. She said she was not used to me having a man at our place, which is true. It’s been 10 years. I always made sure that I would bring drama into her life. She did not even think about knocking on my door before entering my room.

I am so thankful that she opened the door and my partner and I were not in more comprising positions etc
