Seriously, how did you all travel growing up?! I think we had three kids on sofa bed for some trips. One bathroom.
In the 80s and 90s there were MANY more hotel rooms that offered 2 queen beds as an option. Now it's often 2 double beds, which are not fit for 2 grown adults. I grew up in a family of 5 and we would get 2 queens and a cot. Hotels don't allow that now as they want to force you into a second room.
For young kids, I'd have them share the pull out. But as they get older I'd be more inclined to get 2 rooms.
You can fit two adults on a double or have a kid share with a parent.
