Stanford has so kids of bold-faced names (Chelsea Clinton, the kids of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Brooke Shields, Rupert Murdoch). The Ivies too, of course.

Yeah but Felicity Huffman’s kid is not the same as Bill and Melinda Gates’ kid. Obviously. Hollywood is full of people with the looks ambition and talent to be actors but this does not equate to intelligence.

Because people with actual intelligence and drive want their kids to have a suitable college experience. And Princeton doesn’t necessarily seem like a pleasant place this days. Her kids don’t have to go to McKinsey because they have family money. They can have an enjoyable and intellectually fun college experience and still have a great range of career options.

Brooke Shirlds went to Princeton not Stanford. Both kids are at Wake Forest, which I respect. Great school but also doesn’t look as though they were trying to trade in mom’s name yo get into “elite” school. (No offense to WF and not trying to trash it in any way.)

Not even just that but going to elite schools helps you all the way through. Have a family member that just got into an elite law school after an elite college after an elite college prep high school. It kind of opened my eyes to thinks. I went to a state university and an okay law school and had better academic stats and test scores but those schools didn't look twice at me. It is just interesting how the pipeline works.
