AT UGA 47,860 applicants there were over 15,800 admits. A total increase of 12 percent total apps from last year. That's really not that big of an increase. Others schools saw much bigger increases.

I can promise you that the OOS kids do NOT all have top stats, since I personally know kids from the DMV who got in with mediocre profiles. I don't know why you keep arguing when both data and anecdotes are against you. Why are you trying to sell these schools so badly?

"Taking AP classes" is not the same as getting 5s on AP exams.
I know plenty of kids who took tons of AP classes (and even got As in them!) but got 2s on the AP exams, or didn't bother to take the AP exam because they knew they would do poorly.
The number of AP courses taken matter more for college admissions to top colleges than the score. Especially for Seniors ( when most AP courses are taken), where most acceptances are granted before the actual AP exam is taken.
And to your comment, "A" grades in AP courses are what top colleges want. The score is almost an afterthought. That's part of knowing the nuances of the elite college admissions game some people pay thousands to college counselors for.
Everyone gets an A in AP classes. Grades are irrelevant.
Lol, you live in a bubble. Where do you think the 1s on AP tests come from? I can assure you there's a full range of grades from A to C in parts of America that are much different from DMV.

These Big Ten schools are huge. They have large departments so it really depends. But in general for schools like Michigan, Ohio State, MSU, Indiana, Penn State the top 10 or 15 percent will be able to get into their home state flagship.
