Subject: How do kids become driven? Or even motivated?
Happy home. Good parents with no mental health issues. Self-made choices by the child with good guidance (just guidance, no pressure).

The main premise of the book is that you should let your child make their own decisions ( within reason) and not to micromanage your child.
Meh. Not one path and parenting books have not impressed me much over the years. It started with the sleep training books which led me to realize you have to chart your own path depending on you and your child at end of day.
I pushed my son gently but firmly in k-12 school and am incredibly glad I did. Letting him do it all on his own wouldn’t have worked as well. Now he is at a T10 college and is 100% independent, of course.
