5th graders in Advanced Math should have taken the 5th grade SOL. Each school has its own process for placing kids in 6th grade Advanced Math, there is no set standard. It was rare for kids to be dropped from Advanced Math in 6th grade.
6th graders take the 7th grade SOL, they need to pass advanced to have the option to take Algebra 1 H in 7th grade.
I think AAP kids take grade level SOL in 3rd and 4th but starting in 5th, they skip 5th grade SOL and take the 6th SOL, then 6th grade AAP takes 7th grade SOL.
My kid was in Advanced Math and took the 5th grade SOL, they skipped the 6th grade SOL. I am looking at his record, he has 3rd,4th,5th,7th grade Math SOL scores. He is in 7th grade this year and we are waiting on the Algebra 1 score.
Then maybe they made a mistake. Advanced math kids in 5th take the 6th grade math sol. They actually skip the 5th grade math sol. Was your child in AAP or just local advanced math?
Well my DD was in Gen-ed because she didn't make the cut in second grade ( had better score than DS who got in with no issue, DD just took Cogat a month or two before covid ) and when she got into 5th grade AAP she skipped the 5th grade math SOL and has results for 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th grade math scores but not for 5th.
