Yes, this. People who think they are getting healthcare they pay for are delusional. They pay into the system, it’s why they overpay so much never questioning why simple procedures like getting your ENT scope or dermatology burning off a wart or a specialist spending a whole of 10 min with you getting you nowhere in resolving your issue should cost hundreds of dollars with high deductible plans. Hospital stays are financially devastating because you are paying for the care of others who would not pay their bills but have to be treated. Plus we have for-profit health insurance and various other middlemen businesses (like drug prescriptions plans) taking their cut and they are not regulated. It’s not even a simple matter of taking billionaires more, it’s about restructuring our healthcare system to be fair and not having people who work for a living bear full burden of this system for everyone else.
Okay but that still doesn’t mean lower and middle-class Californians want to pay for free healthcare for illegal aliens when they can’t get healthcare themselves.

What if those folks have a stroke or some serious medical event requiring chronic care in a nursing home, but the hospital cannot discharge the patient because the nursing home will not accept them as an immigrant without healthcare insurance?
A lot of immigrants go to their home countries for healthcare. It’s far cheaper there than even having insurance here. People go for non emergency surgeries overseas all the time.

This is why the majority of the country, which used to support birthright citizenship, now opposes it. The Democrats (and the left more generally) went for an insane, far-left progressive immigration policy that deeply harmed lower- and middle-class communities. And because of that, the country is now barreling towards a very fascist approach.
I am so angry at the progressives and what they have done to destroy our country. Birthright citizenship is one of the things that has made this country great, but it can only exist with reasonable and enforced border policies. Now we will lose it all.
