How is what still a thing? It’s a reclass academy specializing in getting high school kids to repeat so when they get to college they are bigger, faster and stronger. It takes the financial burden off the colleges and heightens the academy rep by having students attend a higher university.
While there probably are parents and kids who will do anything to say they get to play D1 lax, its the colleges that are pushing families to these schools to reclass. Yes, you typically get kids who are bigger, stronger, faster, but the colleges also get a chance to see the kids playing national schedules against elite competition like what they will play in college and they get to see how the kids handle living away from home, too. Get its not a normal path, but there can be a lot of benefits for kids choosing this path.
Go ahead and have the reclass academies. It's just not realistic to expect traditional high schools to play against them fairly or without undue risk of injury.

For the 1000th time…no one is ducking St. John’s…that’s almost comical. Trust me, my son was a 24 at Landon and he would have loved to have played the cadets. He’s still salivating at the missed opportunity to crush them by double digits. Would have been another great game to get the younger Bears more experience in the 3rd and 4th qtrs.

So prep uses fifth year players, leverages it’s dorm capabilities to recruit kids from all across the country but still ducks St John’s.

If he only played 4 years of varsity, it’s allowed.

Trying to tie together a full team of 18-20 year olds playing against a team of 16-19 year olds isn't even in the realm of public v privates. The publics have any number of kids born prior to September 1.
You are correct in that publics and privates should choose to play each other in specific matchups to try and make the game more competitive or with the understanding the game is more of a scrimmage to get bench players significant playing time.

Obviously DMV schools do it, but even the worst of a lot of these teams (IMG) had like 18 PGs.

Where does SSSAS figure in this for next year? Graduating 6 but only one D1 commit? Doesn't this mean they are returning the majority of their squad and will keep getting better under Coach Ince? Asking as a family who visited there this past month. Thanks
This is not the best place for information. Everyone posting here trashes teams other than their own. The kids likes Ince, he’s a great coach. He will move the program forward and it will be a contender. Dodds leaving was announced came before contracts were due in June because they hadn’t named a new coach. They lost kids due to that and are rebuilding and the school is committed to that. I’m looking forward to my son being a part of a rebuild with a great coach to learn from.
