That said, it’s incredibly frustrating that so many non-Catholics are trying to make him a pawn in American left-right politics. Just stop. Let us have our moment of joy with him.
I am not sure you are aware of the extensive efforts by many Catholic churches to get their congregations to vote for Trump. It was relentless. Every single week, every single mass at our parish. It was intense and political and now we are all suffering the consequences.
So no. The church inserted itself heavily into the 2024 election. It is a political entity and that was its own doing.

Not sure how one doesn’t know that their grandparents are people of color, but….. if the pope had known and vocalized his African-American heritage he would’ve never been named Pope.
He didn't deny it. He said he didn't know a lot about that side of the family.
His grandfather was from Haiti and his grandmother was black creole.
I feel like you would know if you had black grandparents. If anything, I bet one might have been mixed but passing.

Right wing; one drop of connection is enough to take away human rights.
We are not the same.

No, but MAGA Republicans do. It seems they are losing their minds about the new Pope.

It isn't the left who came up with the one drop rule. Sorry.
DP. But it is indeed the left who continues this obsession of putting every human being into little identity boxes. Very peculiar.
+1. Forty years ago I learned about the “one drop rule” as an artifact of history. I’m amazed that the left wants to keep it as a living thing.

Oh please. MAGAs have shown their true racist colors over the last 3 months. Thought I'd have a little fun.
To be clear, I don't care at all. I'm agnostic. I don't believe in religion at all. But racist MAGAs will care a lot.
