No it is actually not the same. Nicole actually wanted to be involved but her children were brainwashed and she was labeled a suppressive person. However, I do recall Bella being present at Nicole’s wedding to Keith. Tom didn’t want to be involved with Suri due to his religion.

Tom Cruise is hot and it's traditional for women to like men older than them by around 15-20 years on average.

Desperate women tend to try to "date their own age or younger".

Also, most younger "men" are not very manly these days. Even though Tom Cruise is no Don Johnson or Tom Selleck, he's still very manly by today's standards.
