A lot of salons post prices or have a price booklet. It can get waffly for surcharges for hair length, caliber of stylist etc.

NP- it's good advice though. Learning to do this saves a LOT of money. I personally cannot figure out men's hair but a straight line trim for women is something anyone can master. Use that money for something else!

Yup. I have fairly short hair. maybe 15 minutes tops. the actual cutting probably took 2 minutes. it was literally a trim.

Price sounds in the range. I'm sure it took more than 2 mins. It's not their fault you have an easy cut. Trims are the same price.

Most salons don’t price the complexity of a cut. A haircut is a haircut whether it takes 10 min or 40. If you don’t think you need a fancy salon to do your trim go to a hair cutter.

+1. My stylist charges $85 for a haircut that takes her a full hour to do.

Yeah, asking for an estimate is weird. Don’t they have a price list on their website? If not I would just ask in advance what do you charge? Did you not do that? That is on you.

I would say $60-80 for a women’s cut with a basic wash and style. But every stylist had their own rate for a haircut and it has nothing to do with what kind of cut or style you want. I’ve never once had a stylist give me a lower rate than what they normally charge because I “only want an inch off” or I leave with wet hair.
