Except there are rumblings that Gemmell will step down in the near future. He currently coaches Gold 1 and Gold 2 at GP. Jeremey will be coaching Gold 2. Yes, it seems like a step down, but maybe it's not. They need someone in place to make that transition when the time comes.

They’ve been saying that for *years* and I think the former G2 coach at Prep thought he had been brought on to take it over from Bruce but quit after feeling led on- he was really popular and it was a huge loss.

It will be a fairly large group from MU. A large amount of their Silver 1 group is moving up. Although the current G2 group is not huge. I am not sure how many will be willing to make the drive to Tysons especially for crowded lanes. It is a tight knit group and most are very upset over this. There is not much excitement about the move.

Multiple NCAP sites do this. Holton Arms fastest swimmers move to AU at age 13 (Holton’s only group for HS swimmers is Gold 3). Dulles South and Claude Moore have the same type of set up where Dulles South’s fastest swimmers go to Claude Moore by 13 or 14 (although to make it confusing some of the Claude Moore training groups’ practices are at Dulles South). West is also set up this way, all their fastest swimmers move into one group at Freedom Center at age 13, and then the fastest of those kids end up in Gold 1 at Vint Hill in HS.

I thought everyone has been saying that Tyson’s AM was the equivalent of Gold 2, so isn’t he just making a lateral move rather than a step down?

I am wondering the same thing. Do all NCAP sites combine their oldest swimmers or is there a reason why the Tysons site needs to?

My question is why can’t Tysons support a Gold 1 group at their site?

No it’s not. Tyson’s fee has always been less than MU. There is no difference. It is because Tyson PM, which is Tyson’s equivalent to Gold 1 has been practicing at MU for the last 2 years. They combined with MU Gold 1 this year so in order for Tyson’s to have a pipeline, they had to go to MU. This is nothing new. Gold AM was always the second level Gold group at Tysons - just named differently.

I didn't post the fees to dispute your argument. I posted it because the previous poster said Tysons pays less than MU, when in fact, this is not true.
