He’s in debt up to his ears. Drowning in debt. That’s why he wanted to mess up the economy, to lower interest rates. With the amount he owes, even a tenth of a percent saves him a bundle. He doesn’t have money. Dude lives in a box when he’s not freeloading at the White House.

Poor middle Ewon. People were supposed to love him and think he was so smart. Now he's big mad and has big tears.

He’s been grifting off mythical promises for years. I think most in finance know his stock is an meme stock but they too are in on the grift. Tesla takedowns have set eyes on divestment and will target starlink and space x. I know I’ll never see the fall from grace he deserves but I’ll keep trying to make it happen.

It used to be investing 101 to stay away from companies whose brand is basically the CEO/founder.

We need factories to manufacture the parts for the factories that are going to manufacture the specific parts for the manufacturing factories. It’s not possible in any meaningful time frame.

Exactly. It will take years to get new factories on line. Years. There are a lot of supply chain and logistics issues to figure out. Some companies are more likely to go under rather than being able to fix it all in time. But Trump thinks somehow entire industries can turn on a dime, and sprung all this tariff BS without anyone being ready for it.

Trump and his cronies know this is impossible. They want the economy to tank so they call buy up assets for cheap. Well, the billionaires want this. Trump wants to stay out of jail and be adored. Grandpa, eat your pudding.

Why would any company invest in a factory in the US? Everything Trump has done can and will change after the midterms and with the next president. No one will invest in the US. If fact the capital is fleeing the country.

Look, a lot of people can gear down and just spend less money. If there are two parents in a household, that might mean one becoming a SAHP (of any gender).

Spending less money and buying fewer things is going to be just the shot in the arm this faltering economy needs. We had it far too easy for too long.

Please explain the math of how a 2 parent working family saves money if one is not working? Hmm.. that must be the MAGA math where the tariffs make sense.

Do you ... know about doing your own childcare? About cooking at home, doing laundry at home, all that stuff the poors do?

Actually yes bc I’m a SAHM. However, when I was working we had more net income. It’s simple math: my income > childcare, laundry, meals etc.

While in some cases a parent’s earnings may not outweigh their expenses I don’t think this is very many. Plus the ability to fully pay into social security and save tax deferred into a retirement plan is extra value.

It’s not math, it’s priorities for MAGA. Women should be at home doing domestic labor, while men go to work.*

[*Screwing in little screws in a non-union, low-wage job, 10 hours per day, six days per week, with no benefits. Trump’s Golden Age is MAGA going back to the gilded age.]

While scientists, economists, statisticians and so on get fired from government, sure they can go stamp widgets on an assembly line. No big deal that all their education, skills and knowledge should go to waste.

Most logical post I’ve seen in a while on here. We’ve been riding high on cheap good and excess for too long.

Well, to be fair, GWB told Americans to spend after 9/11. But, yes, MAGA needs to stop shopping at Walmart and buying quality goods that cost $$$.

People forget how much Walmart drove US manufacturing overseas with demands of ever decreasing cost of goods. NPR had story after story on this 20 years ago.

https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/walmart/secrets/wmchina.html
https://www.commondreams.org/news/2012/07/02/walmart-50-years-facilitating-americas-industrial-decline

I’m pp and have touting the same on these boards, whenever people blame Dems. Walmart led small towns to cannibalize each other.

In fact, I posted that a friend got a call from Walmart weeks ago saying if he raises prices at all on his product, he won’t be on Walmart’s shelves any longer. He told Walmart to pound sand. Then, a MAGA told me he should produce it in the US and he deserved it as a small-business owner. 🙄

Do you know any poors? They aren’t doing laundry at home because washing machines are a luxury, and oftentimes the ability to live in a structure that alllows for their use is a luxury too. The poors are all in the laundry matt, check one out sometimes, poors and the downtrodden for days.

For the poors childcare is the TV or a tablet of some sort and older siblings watching younger or just younger fending for themselves.

As for cooking at home, the truly poor live in food desserts, they eat a lot of carbs and carry out, not much in the way of fresh produce and meats. Convenience canned and boxed foods dominate. Diabetes and high blood pressure abound.

It costs a lot of money to be poor.

But yes it costs even more to not be. So there’s that.

You clearly don’t know many poors. But something tells me you are about to become familiar in ways you won’t find comfortable at all.

Hate to break it to the boomer MAGAs but...

Most *brand new* factories that will be spinning up will be heavily automated. There won't be that many jobs to work at those plants.

This. They can’t built them be sure the supplies and equipment are too expensive but the new factories going up only need a couple people to run a line that used to take ten or twenty to run. I do think we need manufacturing here so we don’t end up unable to do things like surgeries due to a shortage of IV tubes — but it won’t create tons of jobs.
