While I think they may be true in the US for example, in Israel, those who lead and are in power very much reflect the views of ordinary people. They are indoctrinated at a very early age. A documentary that shows this is "Israelism" which you can find on YouTube.

This was so heartbreaking and terrible. I was listening to it while I was making dinner and my teens were doing homework last night, and we all just kind of stopped what we were doing to listen.
I wish there was something I could do.

Biden never should have gotten as far as campaigning. He was supposed to spend his one term building the party for the future and strengthening the defenses against crazy fascists. That would have earned him a spot in the history of great presidents. But he and, especially, the politicos around him got enamored with themselves and convinced themselves that attempting to further their own careers was in the interest of the US.
