I would accept a general guideline, such as warm colors, or cold colors. Asking for a specific color is too much of a burden for the guests.

Ridiculous. I would wear what I want

I would RSVP no. They can dictate all they want, but that doesn't mean I'll attend.

+1 I hate this

Shows me they care more about Instagram than celebrating with friends and family as real people.

Yes, more focus on the photos and projecting the perfect image than your friends and family celebrating with you. Anything beyond telling your bridesmaids and the mothers what colors/dresses to wear is beyond rude. The invite should suggest the type of dress e.g. casual, cocktail, formal and that’s it.

OP if this is your daughter please guide her. Your friends/family IRL aren’t going to want to tell you your daughter is tacky and entitled but they will judge you and be annoyed. It’s RARE that there is this level of consensus on DCUM!!!!

I think it's fine to share what the wedding palette is and invite guests to dress in it if they *choose* to. it should be 100 percent optional. I have colors that I am very uncomfortable in and would not want to buy an unflattering outfit for the sake of a wedding.

Oh I love designation weddings! I just designate someone to take my place. Easy.

You are right. They’re definitely more narcissistic and self-centered people around now.

I usually try to find out what color the bride’s maids and mothers’ dresses are and avoid those.

Dear guest,
Please do not wear your white sequined suit to my wedding.
Thank you.

Yes, she did.

Brides, don’t do this, it’s stupid.

We had guests visit from across the country and othet parts of the world. I am so grateful they came. They already spent time, money, vacation time, etc. the last thing I would have wanted to do would be to burden them further.
