How so? The OP said the co-worker stated that hw is not allowed per FCPS policy. This says homework can be counted towards the effort grade, but not the academic grade. If hw can be counted toward the effort grade, it is obviously allowed.

OP here. My coworker definitely had an agenda with that statement. He is very proudly MAGA and takes every opportunity to spew his nonsense. I just want him to start backing up some of the ridiculous stuff he says.

- does that answer your question? Your coworker was mostly right, in that FCPS has largely done away with graded homework. What remains of homework now seems to be essentially meaningless / optional.

I am surprised they still call it home work, that sounds prejudice against those without homes, maybe it should be called place where one lives work

Can you point to the area on the elementary school report card that is for “homework?” Didn’t think so.

You kids 1-2-3-4 on their report card is closely tied to how they do on tests or performance based assessments.

If your kid gets a 59 on the math test but they did all their homework, they might get a 3 instead of the 2 that they deserve, but that’s up to the teacher. Saying homework counts is stretching.

Herndon high doesn’t give homework for this reason

The PP is referring the percentage breakdown that determines grades in SIS. That does not occur in ES.
