The latest episode gets into it a bit and it makes more sense - I think they are doing it on purpose. She’s depressed. I don’t get why her ex and her kids aren’t more angry at her though.


Her kids seemed pretty angry at her, or at least a realistic teen anger which often comes out disconnected. I think they’re doing a good job of showing things are not going all that great. Teens are very self-absorbed and into their own lives, they don’t spend a lot of time thinking about mom and dad‘s divorce or their problems. It seems very realistic the way that they are acting. They’re angry some of the time other times are just disconnected.

The last episode, coops daughter was mad that he didn’t fight for them. I don’t really think it’s in him to get all that angry. A big theme of this show is that everyone is numb and kind of going through the motions.

I don’t see it. I think that’s a great picture of her and she’s very pretty. She doesn’t look particularly young, but she is in her mid 50s so I wouldn’t really expect her to.

The problem with women who have had even good work in Hollywood is that I do think the work helps and they look refreshed, but no one really looks younger. Gwyneth Paltrow has had some of the best work done, but you don’t look at her and think she’s not a day over 28! I mean she’s clearly a woman in her early 50s who looks like she takes care of herself.

This show is garbage. The pilot is shittastic writing and low-lit to suggest sophisitication and reveals how limited Hamm’s talent really is, and his charm is even more degraded. I can’t believe I used to love him in Mad Men.

That is an interesting idea, I hadn't thought of that. I think he's clearly going to be working with Lou, but maybe he will do some things on his own. The scene with the mom and her daughter's boyfriend was nauseating, at least our antihero looked repelled by that too.

That’s definitely a better way to put it. He’s incredibly sweet with his sister.

I feel like he is an unlikely actual hero: did everything to provide for his family, incredibly kind and understanding and forgiving of his ex wife despite the cheating, fantastic brother, and now he is stealing from the rich, crap they won’t even miss.

Really enjoying the show - love John Hamm and it seems this last episode is setting things up for a nice twist. It's not Mad Men level of good, but it's def. entertaining.

He could very well go back to banging 30 year olds six months from now but but it doesn’t defy reality that some successful men date age appropriately sometimes.


This latest episode was really good. My DH wondered what the former bball player is doing with his best friend’s 45-year-old wife when he essentially has unlimited options. Also you’d think that their kids would hate him and they don’t seem to.

He seems to enjoy the suburban lifestyle and making breakfast in the morning etc. and maybe he doesn’t want kids of his own….the thing with younger women is a lot of them want kids. She seems independent and knows what she wants and her kids are almost grown. Maybe that is appealing for now.

If banging young women was the only way forward then the fat disgusting ex of Olivia Munn’s character wouldn’t need to be constantly stuffing himself with food and going to war with the mother of his child. He clearly is trying to fill a void that can’t be filled.

"Better"? Like Demi Moore and Meg Ryan and Christa Miller and all her contemporaries who have lifted and plumped and immobilized their faces to the point of looking like plastic figurines? Weird that anyone would think that's "better".

Especially in acting, when so much of the craft relies on facial expressions. What is even the point of watching Nicole Kidman act? Her face doesn't move! She is incapable of displaying most of the range of human emotion. Remember Maggie Smith? A titan of the field, and one of the most notable things was her fully-mobile face. A wealth of communication in a single raised eyebrow. Why any "actor" would give that up is a mystery to me. Unless they actually just want to be models.
