Easter weekend is a holiday weekend for many.

It’s a total rug pull. You are getting fired on Good Friday, and sent “off”.

What does it say? What is the reasoning? To go to services at church?

We did once under the Bush Admin. We all got to leave early for Good Friday.

Apparently HUD is going to do 4 hours early release.

Mine is doing it for the first time ever (not EEOC). It’s definitely making a statement…

+1 but it’s because the markets are closed in Good Friday. It’s nothing religious.

We only get Christmas off because it is a federally declared holiday by Congress. Not because it’s celebrated secularly.

Yet you know if they gave Diwali or Chinese New Year or Yom Kippur off for the whole agency because the agency head celebrated that holiday, there'd be an uproar.

As there should be, frankly. Everyone in government has annual leave that they can take for their own religious holidays - Good Friday and Easter included. Nothing is stopping any Christians from using their leave on those days, just as the rest of us use our leave on our own holidays. This is just some performative cry for attention on the part of the EEOC chair. Ironic that it's EEOC of course, but that's how we roll now ...

This is so dumb. Even the most devout Catholics don’t spend the day “observing Good Friday.” It’s not a day of religious obligation (ie you are not obligated to go to mass).
