Feels likes sales managers need to say less. Customer has nothing to lose - they have the car they want for the price they want - I’m sure the next Honda dealership on the line would be happy to make the sale, and Toyota would be glad to match it.
The peril here was for the sales manager losing a sale.

Different dealerships behave differently. I am also a woman, and the worst experience I ever had was at a Mazda dealership, and I walked away. Every trick in the book, including calling my cell and cursing me out when I actually walked out and away from the deal. I actually had to threaten to call the police because they wouldnt give me back my car that they were “evaluating for trade in”. The best experience I had was at a Mazda dealership 10 miles from the first one. Negotiated a price, paid it, walked out with a car.
You can have a good experience where you may have had to just decline a couple of things or you can have ones that are like a hostage situation. You probably aren’t as awesome and commanding as you think you are.

And the point of the thread is bad car dealers, not people who think the reason they weren’t hassled is because they’re better at buying a car!

Yes, the point of the story was that he was a shitty car salesman. His shtick failed and nearly lost the sale.
