VT. It's a good school and accessible/does a good job of serving Virginians by not being unnecessarily exclusive, so people aren't mad about not getting in as often as other schools.

Only kind of. I know a lot of kids who started with the idea of Pitt as a safety, and then visited and loved it.
Then, Pitt offers these high stats kids great merit aid.
Then, the high stats kids choose Pitt over higher ranked schools.

So it might start as a safety for the high stats kids, but I'm seeing plenty of kids CHOOSE Pitt in the end over higher ranked schools.

8. The ones for whom OOS is always a waste of money and need that view validated.
9. The LAC boosters for whom LACs are better at absolutely every aspect and inject LACs into every discussion.
10. The UMD crowd who inject UMD into every discussion.
11. The private high school crowd who need a midsize private college in order to not lose status points with the other parents.

Denison gets tons of love from the SLAC crowd. Deservedly so.
