Frumin is wholly incompetent and won't do anything. You'll have better luck with the media.
Huh? Frumin is the best most responsive council member. He's done so much for ward 3 schools

She had a rough go of it from what I have heard. Not all APs are meant to become Principals. She is completely leaving DCPS.
Anonymous wrote:Kids at Hearst have been complaining all year about the 4th grade ELA teacher - yelling, screaming at kids from on top of tables. My kid tells me daily how most of the class is spent with the teacher yelling at them. Kids go home in tears and are scared to go to class. Well it turns out the teacher was arrested at a prior job for hitting a kid: https://www.wbaltv.com/article/baltimore-teacher-accused-of-striking-student-charged/9626928
This explains so much. Parents have complained about this teacher to the admin, and have been told to their faces that they are racist for even bringing it up.
So sick of the gaslighting. And now the news that the Hearst principal is leaving at the end of the year. Just chaos over there and it breaks our hearts.

School systems sometimes never get rid of problematic teachers...
It’s the unions!
A relative was a superintendent and she said she couldn’t fire a teacher who allegedly physically hurt a student because of the union!
Another teacher who allegedly did something sued, got a huge settlement and was able to teach elsewhere.
This was not in the DMV.
Ewwww Trump supporter.
No it’s not the ‘unions.’ If a teacher did something deplorable and came out unscathed it’s the school system and the law that let that happen.
I have also heard of some teachers who said if a HS student punches them they will defend themselves.
You have no idea how many of these kids hit teachers and nothing also happens to them as well. Or they hit other children and nothing happens.

I do not believe bad teachers, people who misuse medical leave, lazy people should be protected or be able to change schools.
A relative of mine who was a teacher, principal, and then superintendent (not in DMV) told me years ago a teacher physically hurt a special needs student (student did nothing), people saw and the teacher could not be fired. They have multiple stories that would get most any other person fired, but they couldn't fire the teacher allegedly because of the union.
Another teacher relative, turned administrator (I have a lot of family in public education) has said similar things. This person finally left public education and their pension behind.
I have heard all sorts of incidents from these family members and their friends who also work or worked in public education.
Another relative who does work in DCPS basically does the very bare minimum (talks about it proudly) but made sure their children got into a top charter.
Once a teacher gets tenure it can be difficult to fire.
I do think teachers should be paid more especially excellent ones and I have been in debates with the above people because I personally think teachers and principals should be paid more than superintendents and the like. My family members who moved to admin posts all would have preferred to stay teaching, but could not afford to do so as they were the breadwinners of the family.
Tell me more about teacher tenure in DCPS.
There is no teacher tenure in DCPS.
