I just watched Michael Clayton (again!) and thought he was wonderful in it, but I do feel like he just plays himself. He's the same guy in Oceans Eleven, Up in the Air and The Descendants, but I love all of those movies.
I feel the same way about Joe Pesci, who I adore.

Ugh. I really dislike Nicole Kidman's acting. Her American accent always seems to be a bit of a whisper and I find myself staring at her face versus losing myself in her character performance.
She is a really lovely person and actually an introvert it seems. At least from my observation serving her and family and friends many many times at a favorite Nashville place during my undergrad and grad school years. And she and her husband really do seem to have met their soulmates.

I think a lot of pretty people who are a bit bubbly have coasted through Hollywood by essentially playing themselves.
Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, and even Reese Witherspoon are pretty actresses with good stage presence but no real range. They all have comedic timing, but that’s not acting.
Great actors have a wide range and make you forget about their celebrity.
Meryl Streep is the obvious example of a talented actress.
I think Nicole Kidman thinks she’s a great actress simply based on the volume of roles and commercial success, but I think she has a limited range largely driven by emotion. She can play happy Nicole, sad Nicole, and confident Nicole. She doesn’t really play characters.

I have no idea if she's really a good person but she does seem to be and I've enjoyed most of her roles. I think she's a good actress even if not in the Meryl Streep category.
I like that she seems to be aging naturally and has her natural teeth!
